I don’t know about you, but I love a good Mod Podge project! This container of crafting magic is a key ingredient in many craft and DIY projects in my house as I am sure it is in your as well. The kids and I have made many a project over the years that included using Mod Podge, and we always have a bottle of it at home. This Stained Glass Candle Holder project is the perfect craft project for Mother’s Day (or any other holiday for that matter.) I love that this project is inexpensive and is easy for any age group. You can get your supplies at the dollar store or for cheap at the craft store. I always have tissue paper, Mod Podge, a brush and clear coat, so the only thing I had to buy for this craft project was the candle holder and the votive candle.

Take your craft scissors or craft punch and cut or punch out your tissue paper. You can make any pattern you like, so have fun! Pour a little Mod Podge in the lid and place one of your tissue paper pattern pieces on the glass candle holder and brush it with the Mod Podge. Use the Mod Podge sparingly or it may wrinkle on you. Continue to do this until the entire candle holder is covered. Be sure to not have any of your tissue paper on the inside of the candle holder as this is a fire hazard!

Once you have completely covered the candle holder, let it dry for at least one hour. The Mod Podge directions say 15-20 minutes, but I like to make sure it is nice and dry. You should not be able to see any opaque anywhere on your candle holder. Once your Mod Podge is completely dry, you can spray your clear coat. My daughter and I have a debate on this step. I feel a good spraying of clear coat will protect the tissue paper and there is no chance for it to peel off. Caitlin says if you do the Mod Podge correctly, you do not need this step. I will leave this up to you! If you want another easy easy gift for mom, make her this Chocolate Mint Sugar Scrub.
