• Creators Matt and Ross Duffer said they were rejected by almost 20 networks before Netflix gave them a yes. And with a favorite line from Pretty Woman, I will say this: “You made a huge mistake. HUGE!”
• There were 906 boys and 307 girls who auditioned for Stranger Things!

• The boys who auditioned for Stranger Things were asked to act out scenes from the pilot as well as Stand By Me, a popular coming of age movie from 1986. It is one of my family’s favorite movies and we probably watch it once a month!
• Charlie Heaton, who plays Jonathan Byers and Millie Brown, who plays Eleven, are both from the UK.

• Millie Bobby Brown, the actress who played Eleven, was anxious about shaving her head. It was Charlize Theron’s role in Mad Max: Fury Road that gave her the courage to do it.
• The voice of Gaten Matarazzo, who played Dustin Henderson,changed so much that they couldn’t do dialogue recording after filming finished.

• To get Millie to float in a kiddie pool, twelve hundred pounds of Epsom salt were dissolved into the water.
• Gaten Matarazzo has cleidocranial dysplasia, which is a condition where you’re born without your collarbones. It affects your facial growth and skull growth and teeth. Gaten only has baby teeth, so he wears fake ones!

• Anniston and Tinsley Price are the toddlers who shared the role of Holly Wheeler.They were so terrified of the monster, the crew calmed them down by telling them it was like Monsters, Inc.
• Winona Ryder had no idea what streaming was when she was approached to play Joyce Byers on the show. Stranger Things is of course made by Netflix, who has the hugely popular streaming service.
