I have been a cat person for as long as I can remember. When I was 4-5, my mom rescued a Siamese and I named her “Luv.” That was my first of a long line of felines who have ruled my house! I have always rescued or adopted my pets and consider them a huge part of our family. Our latest rescue kitties are two adorable sisters named Meep and Hazel. They were abandoned by their mom at the age of 4 weeks. We literally fed them through droppers for the first two weeks until they could eat wet cat food.

I feed my family mostly organic foods because I care about what they put into their body. With my cats, I feel the same way about their food. I want them to have foods that are wholesome and don’t have a bunch a weird fillers whose origins I am totally unsure of. For Meep and Hazel, they love the Rachael Rayâ„¢ Nutrish® wet and dry cat foods. For me, I love that they love the Rachael Rayâ„¢ Nutrish® foods!

Back in 2007, Rachael developed the Nutrish super premium foods for dogs. With the help of pet nutrition experts, Rachael was able to develop a line of foods that contain simple, wholesome ingredients like real meat, fish and chicken . You will not find any  poultry by-product meal or fillers…just great tasting food that is good for your pet.

In 2014, Rachel expanded the line to include food for cats, which is dedicated to offer “Real Recipes. Real Ingredients. Real Good.” What this translates to is the #1 ingredient is U.S. farm raised chicken or quality seafood. What is does not translate to is a bunch of crap like corn, wheat, soy, or gluten, artificial preservatives, colors or artificial flavors. That is so important to me when it comes to what I feed Meep and Hazel. The Rachael Rayâ„¢ Nutrish® wet and dry cat foods have vitamins and minerals my kitties need.

The dry food is made with simple, wholesome ingredients like real chicken or salmon, brown rice, and vegetables. These are the same great foods I serve my own husband and kids.  And the best part is the chicken  provides essential nutrients to help maintain healthy organs and lean muscle. The salmon from the Real Salmon & Brown Rice Recipe gives Meep and Hazel  healthy skin and a shiny coat from the naturally rich source of essential amino acids and Omega 3 fatty acids.

Step 1: Fold your main fabric in half with your pattern side touching. Measure for the top and bottom of the bed. I made a rectangle measuring 15″ x 22″.

Step 2: Cut your fabric and set aside.

Step 3: Repeat Step 1 for the secondary fabric. This will be the “gusset” or the fabric that goes around the bed, connecting the top and the bottom pieces of the bed. I made mine 7″ tall. You will have two pieces the width of your cushion and 2 pieces the length of the cushion. For one of the longer pieces, you will need to make it 1.5″ taller that the other piece. This will be where your zipper goes.

Step 5: Now you want to connect your 4 gusset pieces. You will sew one side of a long piece to the side of a short piece, then the other long piece and then the last shot piece. Now you have a gusset “ring”.

Step 6: Pin the right side of one of your main pieces to the right side of one of the gusset pieces. You will pin the long side of the main fabric to the long side of the gusset, then the shorter side, etc. Sew all these pieces together. Now repeat these steps on the other side.
