This is a sponsored post. However, all opinions about Poise ® Impressa ® Sizing Kit and Poise ® Impressa ® Pack and my 10 ways you can have the best life after 40 are all mine. For me, approaching 40 was terrifying! I felt life was passing by way too fast. I had a husband, three kids and was starting college for the first time. I decided instead of fighting getting older, I would embrace it! This is how I did that!
- Have A Makeover: When you hit 40, wearing crop tops and mini skirts is behind you. Now is time to dress for your age. This does not mean you have to wear leisure suits and orthopedic shoes! Get yourself a makeover. Get a new hairstyle and talk to a personal stylist. Get a rocking look that embraces a more mature lifestyle.
- Exercise: Yes, as we get older, this is more important than ever. Your fitness needs will change as you get older. Stop by your gym and talk to the personal trainer on staff. Ask them to design an exercise program that will be suitable for the 40+ crowd. Ladies, this means more weight bearing exercises for strong bones!
- Travel: This is something I put off because I had kids. I decided there was nothing wrong with having a weekend to myself. I decided to explore San Francisco. It was a city I always wanted to explore. It inspired me to do it more often!
- Learn A New Language: When I was in college, I took Spanish. It was so much fun. I am not fluent, but I can carry on a conversation. It will come in handy when I visit Mexico!
- Do Something Crazy: Getting older does not mean you need to act like you are 100! Do something you have always wanted to do but were afraid to. I decided to do karaoke on a business trip. So.Much.Fun!
- Buy A New Car: When I was younger, money was tight and my credit sucked. As I got older, these areas improved. I hated driving old beater cars around. A few years ago, my husband and I decided to take the leap and buy a new car. Best.Decision.Ever.
- Change Your Diet: I wish I could eat all the cheesI put off doing this. Not a smart idea. We can die tomorrow or not until we are 99. Regardless of when you go, make sure you take care of your family. Life insurance is the nest way to do that.
eburgers and hot fudge sundaes I wanted with no ill effects. Those days are gone. Research has found eating a plant based diet is a smart choice. It helps you maintain a healthy weight and avoid many health issues many of us face as we get older. And it is cheaper too! - Look Forward: I spent a lot of my life looking backwards. Nothing good comes from revisiting events in your life you regret. Instead, look forward. Have fun. Dance, drink good whiskey, and stop worrying about what people think of you.
- Enjoy Your Kids: They weren’t kidding when they said your kids grow up in a blink. The older they get, the more independent they are. This means the less time we tend to spend together. Don’t fall into that trap. Grab your kids and do something they want to do. Take them to a concert, the water park or the amusement park. Remember, the activity doesn’t matter as much as the time you are together. And if you are a woman with LBL, do not let that stop you! I don’t! I use Poise ® Impressa ®.
- Get Life Insurance: I put off doing this. Not a smart idea. We can die tomorrow or not until we are 99. Regardless of when you go, make sure you take care of your family. Life insurance is the nest way to do that.
I have had Light Bladder Leakage (LBL) for years. It stopped me in my tracks from doing the things I enjoyed when I was younger. It seemed every time I turned around, whatever I was doing would make me leak. It didn’t matter if I was laughing, crying, coughing or jumping on the trampoline. I decided to live with it. I mean, pee happens, right?!
I stopped being active. I stopped playing with the kids. I stopped enjoying life. We only get one life to live and I sure wasn’t going to let my LBL interfere with it. Pee happens? Yes, but not while I am enjoying life! I was going to live my best life. For me, that meant a pad free life with Poise ® Impressa.

Once you know the size you need, you can purchase your Poise ® Impressa ® Pack. Once you have your Poise ® Impressa ® bladder supports, you can tell LBL to take a hike! Now YOU can take a hike and not worry about having a little pee accident! Because you can wear them for up to 12 hours, you don’t need to always know where the bathroom is to change your pad. With Poise ® Impressa, you can regain that confidence that your light bladder leakage took away!

Do you have bladder leakage issues? What activities has it kept you from enjoying? I would love to know! Please share below!
I don’t have leakage issues, but I know it’s probably just a matter of time. It seems like women were practically physiologically designed to suffer from this issue eventually.
I”m not 40 yet, but I”m getting there. One thing I know will help me have my best life is refusing to get old in my spirit. I can’t stop myself from getting old on the outside, but I don’t have to do it on the inside!
I don’t have any issues yet, but I am sure I will as I get older. I have a friend that has leaking issue if she laughs a lot or sneezes too hard. I will make sure she knows about Poise Impressa..
I’m closing in on 60 and I’ve seen a lot of changes to my body. Thanks for telling women to take a look at their style as they get older. Nothing ages a woman like dressing like a kid.
I can’t believe I am in my 40’s! How did that happen? I love to travel so that is defiantly on my list! I start exercising in January and I have been regular at it for 7 months now! I am hoping to keep it up!
I’m in my mid-late 40’s and have started to become a bit more proactive in my own life after tending to kids for half of it! I am enjoying my “me” time and have started dieting and exercising and have lost 16 pounds so far! 🙂 I love your list! Thanks for sharing it!
It seems like you have it all well planned out and are enjoying your age and embracing it. I am around your age so I will try and live life and use Impressa if the time comes when I need it.
Travel, travel, travel! I hope that’s something that will keep me young! And wearing clothes that are flattering. And taking better care of my skin. Great tips!
I love this post so much and couldn’t agree more about travel! It’s all about taking care of yourself and living your life!
Since I turned 40 a few years ago I have been making small changes to be healthier. My friend was just telling me about Poise Impressa. They have made a big difference for her.
It is nice to have products for this if you need them. Thanks for sharing the awareness!
It sounds like 40 hasn’t slowed you down at all! I think it’s a great attitude in life that helps you also. I’m so glad Poise made products to help women with LBL. No one should have to deal with the annoyance while trying to live a fun life.
Great advice!! I am not there yet, but love that you have taken the time to do things YOU wanted to do, like travel. 😀
I love that you are staying active and not letting age get in the way. Keep on checking off those bucket list experiences.
I am over 50 and can stick rock that mini skirt. Even in my younger days I could not wear a crop top as I have a wiggly belly
I’ll be 70 next year. 40 was a long time ago. I swim 3 times a week, volunteer very often and sing with a chorus. It’s a great life. (need more traveling)
I don’t suffer from LBL yet but I’m glad there are products out there that will help. These are all great ideas for having the best life after 40.
I don’t know what it is about turning 40 that has us more aware of we need to with our lives to make it better. I try to eat healthy and exercise as much as I can.
My family lives to be in their 80s and 90s (and sometimes longer). My 40s will be young for me still, and I intend to think of it that way.
A much needed product. Thanks for telling us about it. Bob and I just bought a new BMW. We had put it off forever and finally just did it. We love it!
These are great tips. My favorite well at least the one I think is important is the exercise. I am trying to work on that one myself.
40 is right around the corner for me. These are all good ideas to think about to help transition into that aging milestone. I definitely plan to do more traveling now that my kids are about out of the house.
I love your tips. They’re great. It’s never a bad time for a life check and change.
I love these tips. I am turning 40 next month and have been thinking that life should get better after 40. 🙂
I hope that when I’m over 40, I’ll still be traveling and enjoying life just as much as I am now. And if I have LBL, it’s good to know there are products that can help.
These are great suggestions. I’ve often thought about taking up a new language.
I get the occasional leakage problem, but it’s not all the time. I like the idea of this product, and it’s nice to know I will have an option if and/or when the light problem isn’t so light anymore.
I look at my older sister and am so envious of the stage of life she’s in. I adore the time with my girls while they’re little, but the travel and increased free time is enticing.
It’s awesome to just spend your days having fun and looking forward to living life the best way you can. These are awesome ideas on how to do just that!
My parents are at their 50s and we always encourage them to travel with us and just enjoy life. They still do work and has a business but make sure to spend some time with us.
These are great recommendations. I am well over 40 and have done most of these. It makes me think of the rest of the list and what I want to do more of. Thank you.
These are some great ideas, it is definitely worth pampering yourself when you hit a big milestone and knowing there is something you can fall back on if you do have leakage is great.
I did get the sizing kit but have been reluctant to try it but I will now that I’ve read your article
I love all of these! While I am not 40 yet, I think this is a great list even for us creeping up on 30. Live life to the fullest and enjoy it, because we only get one!
You’re right that 40 is the perfect age for buying life insurance … but let’s not push a rocking chair. No way!
I am almsot mid-30 and I am not one bit sad about heading toward my 40’s. I think that getting old is what you make it and I’m eager to tackle life regardless of my age.
I think these are some great tips. I wont be 40 for a while but I have been making traveling more of my lifestyle journey once I turned 30!
I don’t have bladder leakage issues but I know a lot of women do. This is a great list of ideas!
It’s the time to enjoy the kids since they’re more grown up and understand the world a lot better. It’s easy to find hobbies that you’ll also enjoy and just keep making memories!
As I got older, I started exercising and watching my diet. I think overall, this will add some time to my life and allow me to do more in the long run.
I always feared turning 40. I had so many things I wanted to accomplish by then. So, when it came to be that year, nothing went as it should have, at least in my mind. Some things I was accepting of, others, I couldn’t. So, now at 42, I have made it my life to work through the things which held me back and accomplish the things I physically am capable of.
I don’t suffer from leakage but I can only imagine how much it would impede on your life. It’s nice to have options for stopping leaks so you can enjoy your life now matter. what.
Some of my friends are in their 40s and cannot agree with you more that positive outlook is the way to have the best life after 40!
I absolutely love this! Believe it or not, but I am looking forward to life after 40!
I am getting close to 40. I have heard that life after 40 needs some special care. Great tips.
Thank you for the helpful advice!!! My bladder is just not the same after three kiddos! Poise has save the day for me many times! Great tips love!
Good for you trying karoake. I bet you were great. One of the best things about getting older is learning to not care so much what people think of you and realizing that everyone has their issues, not just you.
I turned 40 last year. This year my oldest went off to college and I gave birth to my last baby. I’m not sure we’ll be able to get that brand new car just yet while putting everyone through college. But, these are awesome tips!
These are all wonderful tips! Thanks for sharing them. It is true, the older you get, the less you care about what people think. It is time we live our life the way we want it. Oh, and thanks for the reminder about life insurance. I have been looking for a good insurance company for the past few months.
You’re definitely living at this point in your life! I’m getting closer to 40 and am making more conscious decisions.
These are really great tips. I am not far away from 40 so I know these will come in handy for me. i want to have the best life!
I just love reading this great post, truly life starts at 40, there are many things still can be enjoyed starting this age and learning does not stops.
I’m a long-time member of the over-40 crowd, and I think that one of the best parts about getting older is the perspective you gain. I have to admit that I still struggle with “looking forward, not back,” but it is such valid and important advice.
I am over 40 years old and I am thankful that I do not have LBL. I understand how this could affect a woman’s confidence. I am happy that there is Poise. Their sizing kit is a great idea. so women can determine which ones to get next time. Wishing you a great “40 and over” years ahead of you
I keep trying to learn a new language. Haven’t been successful yet.
I love all of these ideas! I think travel is definitely at the top of my list. I would love to do it with my husband alone a few times and then with the kids too.
When we hit 40 some women think life is over the way we knew it. It really is what you make it and there are so many pluses to being 40. We are smart and more mature which we can use to our advantage. I do admit I use the Poise Impressas and they are something I tell all my friends about.
40 is the new 30! So better enjoy it because life is so beautiful!
So many good thoughts here! I recall when we were newlyweds, a neighbor who sells insurance came to visit to talk to us about life insurance. We thought it was dumb way to spend money when we didin’t have much. Now that I’m older, I know many people who lost their spouse and didn’t have life insurance, and now have a really hard life.
It’s wonderful that women can go online and talk about issues like this. Lets face it. This isn’t a topic we’re likely to just bring up. But it is something that a lot of us deal with as we get older.
I like these tips. I have tried the impressa. and I decided that they are not for me. My favorite thing about being over 40 is spending the time with my grand-kids that I didn’t have to spend with my own children.
I’m looking for the best life after 69. I swim 3 times a week and volunteer often.
Don’t put off things that you say you will do it “later”. Later may never come or you may change so you can’t do whatever you wanted. Do it now or at least start it now.
I like seeing these posts again. It makes me rethink where I have been and where I am going. Thank you for the reminder.
Good advice for all of us as we age. You don’t realize until something happens, like a bad fall, that your body doesn’t heal as fast or react the same way it did when you were a kid. I have a lot more aches and pains today.
Great tips not just for those on their 40s. Looking forward is my favorite as it helps maintain eagerness in life. There’s just no room for regret with this mentality. Of course, doing karaoke is a must for everyone!
These are all good ideas as I struggle with getting older. Stopping at our milestone birthdays is a great way to reset our vision for the rest of our life. I love the ‘Do something crazy’. This is totally how I like to feel younger. A couple years ago we went snowmobiling in Yellowstone and it’s time to find a new winter adventure.
