How To Choose The Best Baby Swing

October 3, 2018 by Kelly 140 Comments

How To Choose The Best Baby Swing

This is a sponsored post. But all opinions about this product and how to choose the best baby swing are all mine. When you have a baby, there is always that one piece of gear that you swore you could not live without.

For me, it was our baby swing. For all three of my babies, it was the swing. This was especially true for Henry. For a baby often inconsolable, the swing made him peaceful.

How To Choose The Best Baby Swing

Our swing was a shower gift. All the girls in my office pitched in and bought it for me. When I unwrapped that bog box, I was speechless. A feat for me! The swing was glorious. It was from Graco.

Graco was a brand I was familiar with. It was the brand we trusted for many baby items for the kids. It was a brand we knew made baby gear to last. Baby gear you could pass down. Are you in the market for a swing? Here is the checklist we go by every time!

One of the most used pieces of baby gear we had was our swing. If you are in the market, here are some tips for choosing the best baby swing for your infant

Soothing Power: For most parents, they buy a baby swing to soothe their baby. Look for a swing with a variety of features. These should include different speeds and direction and a comfortable seat. Bonus features include music and/or nature sounds and a reclining seat. All these features together will soothe the most cranky baby!

Power Source: There are different types of power sources for baby swings. Some are battery powered while others plug into an electrical outlet. I am not sure if they make swings with a hand crank anymore. We had one with our first baby. You sure built up your biceps with those!

Removable Rocker: Many swing today are made with a removable rocker. This way you can have your baby next to you while you rock them.

Accessories: Look for a swing that comes with a mobile or soft toys for baby to play with. That is always a bonus.

Price: The cost of the swing matters, but it is last on my list. I expect to pay a bit more for a swing that does everything I want for my baby and more. If I am giving a swing as a gift, I want it to be something the parents will be as happy to open as I was with my first swing!

how to choose the best baby swing 2

We have a new baby coming into the family soon. I am about to burst with love for a baby I have not even met yet! Baby Declan is scheduled to arrive in November. We cannot wait!

I wanted to get his parents a fabulous baby swing. My first order of business was to head to the Graco website to see what they had. If I trusted the brand with my kids, I trust it with Declan.

how to choose the best baby swing 3

When I found the Graco EveryWay Soother™ with Removable Rocker, I was in love! First of all, it is gorgeous! They have the “Josephone” for your little lady and the “Tristan” for your little man.

It is exclusively available at Babies R Us and retails for $200. At the first glance you can see how comfortable your little one would be in the EveryWay Soother™.

how to choose the best baby swing 4

  • This swing has got it ALL! This is what it has:
  • Keep baby smiling with 8 ways to swing
  • Multi-direction seat offers more ways to soothe
  • Seat doubles as a removable rocker for use throughout the home
  • 6 Swing speeds allow Mom to adjust speed to baby’s preference
  • Vibration with two speed settings soothe baby
  • 3 position recline for optimal comfort
  • 10 melodies and 5 nature sounds to calm and soothe
  • Mobile with two soft toys keeps baby entertained
  • Plush soft goods with removable infant head support for added comfort
  • AC Adapter means no need for batteries

how to choose the best baby swing 5

Putting the swing together will take about an hour. At least it did for us. The only complaint we could come up with is the electrical cord is a little short. our model, baby Claire is a super fussy baby.

Once we found the right movement, she was immediately calm. We also loved the heart beat on the sound settings. The clips and the actual rocker feel quite secure. When I asked the new mom what she thought, she said, “I love this thing!” Mike drop!

That swing looks amazing, and in no way dangerous! I mention not looking dangerous, because my kids’ baby swing had these big legs, and you had to be careful not to get any body parts in there while they were swinging. Your body parts, not theirs. LOL

When I was pregnant with my first child five years ago, I thought we could get away without buying a swing. Oh boy, was I ever wrong about that! Both my kids ended up loving the swing! One loved the front the back motion while the other preferred side to side.

When I was babysitting my granddaughter my best buy was a baby swing. Wonderful for soothing a grumpy baby. Now that I’ve seen what Grayco has now I’m excited. I have a nephew that is starting to think about having kids and I can’t wait to spoil them with new technology like this.

When my kids were babies honestly a baby swing was the best thing ever that I owned. It was the only thing that actually helped me get some sanity in my life when they would be extremely fussy and nothing was wrong, diapers were changed, bellies were fed, they weren’t sick, etc. etc. I would put them in their swing and they would instantly go to sleep. I am currently expecting again and so looking for another swing to have!

My favorite piece of baby gear was probably the jogger stroller that my best friend was gifted recently for their baby. She’s a heavy workout girl and she was so grateful for it and I have not seen anyone use it as much as she does. She got her pre-baby body back within like two months, it was insane, and the baby loved it.

I’ve heard having a swing is a great way to help your baby sleep. I never had one with my first baby but we are planning to have a second child and I would like to use one with them.

My favorite gift was a baby carrier. This has been such a help for going to the store, running errands, even doing housework. This lets me have both hands free while keeping the baby close.

My favorite baby gear item I received for my baby shower was the vibrating seat that was also a sleeper. So she slept in that more than her crib. Something aboutthe vibrations always soothed her right back to sleep.

For safety’s sake, the most important piece of baby equipment is an excellent car seat. After that, a safe crib is important. The next piece of necessary equipment is a great baby swing like this one.

When my kids were babies in the early 80’s, my favorite was the baby swing. Back then it was the hand cranked ones that would run down and I’d have to keep re-cranking. They’ve come a long way since then.

I’ve had four kids, and every single one has had a different piece of baby gear the was a life saver. With my youngest, we had a swing that we borrowed that was pretty good, but the most helpful was a Tula baby carrier. It allowed me to get things done while still snuggling her close and have two hands free for the other three kids!
