White Chocolate Red Velvet Pie Is The Perfect Holiday Dessert

October 24, 2018 by Kelly 57 Comments

The holidays are incredibly busy for me. You too? I love to make recipes from scratch whenever I can. When I don’t have time, I make the next best thing! Like my White Chocolate Red Velvet Pie. It Is The Perfect Holiday Dessert!

I love to make dessert recipes from scratch when I can. When I don't have time, I make my White Chocolate Red Velvet Pie recipe. It Is an easy Holiday Dessert recipe!

Visions of Sugar Plums?

I have a holiday checklist running through my head. Aren’t I supposed to have visions of sugar plums in my head? It is hard to believe Thanksgiving is just a few days away. I have not finished my grocery shopping, so I need to do that today. Since it is just the four of us, we don’t make a huge meal. This year we are going to do two small main dishes; turkey for the girls and meatloaf for the boys.

White Chocolate Red Velvet Pie

Cut Corners, Not Flavor

When I was growing up, Thanksgiving was a huge deal! There was mom and dad and six of us kids. By the time you added in other family and friends, we could have anywhere from fifteen to twenty people. This meant mom was in the kitchen for days before Thanksgiving ever got there. One thing I learned from my mom was how to cut corners in the kitchen. This did not mean sacrificing flavors. If mom was able to make a favorite recipe in less time, she was all for it. One traditional family recipe was her White Chocolate Red Velvet Pie.

I love, love, love to make this pie! it is the perfect dessert for the holidays. It is super easy and the flavor is just heavenly! It is so good, you would swear it was made from scratch! You only need a few ingredients and it takes less than an hour to make. If you have older kids, they can help, which cuts your time in the kitchen even more. You can also substitute any cake mix flavor you want, as well as the topping. Play around with it! It is so easy, you cannot mess it up, I promise! And happy Thanksgiving!

White Chocolate Red Velvet Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 box red velvet cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 Oreo or graham cracker pie crusts
  • 10 ounces of white chocolate chips or 1 bag of Wilton White Melting Candies
  • 3 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and roll out pie crusts into pie pans.
  2. Prepare cake mix according to instructions on back (Duncan Hines calls for 3 eggs, 1-1/4 cup water, and 1/3 cup oil). Mix well and pour into 2 pie crusts in pans.
  3. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until crusts are golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. If crusts begin to brown before pie is done, cover loosely with aluminum foil.
  4. In medium saucepan, combine butter, 6 ounces of white chocolate chips and 1/2 can of sweetened condensed milk. Stir (medium heat) until smooth. Add sweetened condensed milk as needed if mixture is too thick to pour. Pour over pies.
  5. Garnish with semi-sweet chocolate chips! Top with whipped cream if desired.

I would have to agree that is probably the perfect dessert. I think I would like to eat that right off the screen. My favorite dessert is most likely a raspberry pie. I love raspberries, but I’m willing to try this one out for sure.
