My family and I love to travel, but we do not always get the chance. Between school and our schedules, it is not always hard to get away. I am going to be a bit selfish and whine, so indulge me! I work my butt off and I get exhausted. I get my daughter to school, home school my special needs son, chauffeur y husband to and from work (we share a car), keep the house clean and do this thing called a blog. Whew! I know I am not alone by a long shot when it comes to being overworked and overtired, so I welcome you into my pity party! When we do get the chance to travel, I am pretty easy going. I am flexible as to where we go, who and what we see and even where we eat. The one thing I am super picky about is where we stay. I want a hotel that will treat my family like royalty without breaking out pauper’s budget. In Atlanta, our go to chain to stay with is the Hyatt (for that matter, wherever we go.) This spring break we had the honor, pleasure, and privilege of staying at The Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead.

I was trying to find a way to describe this hotel which would convey how truly spectacular this hotel is. Um…you know when you have a craving for something sweet, rich and decadent? Ok, now try and remember how if felt when you first tasted it. Got it? Ok, now remember how you then craved it for the next week and wanted to eat it every chance you get? That is kind of what it feels like to stay at The Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead! This hotel has the look and feel of a hotel from maybe classic Hollywood with a modern flair. It is simply the most elegant hotel I have visited.
So, let’s start with the staff. From the instant you pull up, there is a staff of friendly valets, eager to assist you. As we walked past one of the hotel’s restaurants, past the concierge and to the front desk, the smiles and well wishes were abundant. Checking in was a breeze and all of our questions were answered with patience and smiles. We even got some great recommendations for family friendly restaurants within walking distance of The Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead.
Now let’s talk about the room, can we? These beds!!! Oh my stars, these beds are so comfortable. Problem is, I didn’t want to get out of them!! We got adjoining rooms, with a king for me and the husband and two doubles for the kids and my sister in law. The decor is a lovely mix of mostly modern with a bit of maybe an art deco feel? The kids were thrilled to have all the amenities in their room as we had in ours. The bathrooms at The Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead are spacious and the shower spray is not your wimpy flow you get sometimes in other hotels!
Each room had a desk, plenty of drawer and closet space, an iron and ironing board, mini fridge, safe and a fantastic view of the Atlanta Skyline. And because I usually am working while on vacation, I get free internet access in my room, which is standard with the Hyatt chain. (Yay!!) You will also be privy to complimentary transportation (within two miles), 24-hour In Room Dining, seasonal outdoor heated pool, 24 hour StayFitTM gym, and nearby jogging paths. For pet owners, you will get pet beds, pet bowls, welcome treats and an even an in-room Doggie Menu! If you have allergies, you will breathe easy with the hypo allergenic rooms at The Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead.
One of my favorite parts of The Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead was the zen garden. This was such an unexpected pleasure, that I cannot even begin to tell you how much of a refuge it was. Henry, my son, has Asperger’s Syndrome and change is difficult for him. He is always excited to travel but once we get in the car and get going, he starts to feel anxious. It is almost like he cannot let out his breath until we arrive at our destination.
You can imagine what sleeping in a strange bed, no matter how comfortable, and being in strange surroundings, no matter how plus, can be for him. He was starting to have a bit of an anxiety attack, so we took a walk to explore the hotel. We came upon this lovely zen garden, with it’s Japanese influence, and he let out his breath! It was such a huge moment for both of us. it was like we could just feel the tension melt away! As we were leaving, a young couple were just entering, and if you could have seen the smile spread across her face when she saw the bench nestled among the flowers and greenery!
The zen garden was designed by an award-winning Kyoto architect, and includes a gently splashing waterfall, enchanting pond and calming garden. It was just the place Henry needed to get away and unwind, relax and find some inner peace. You will find a mountainscape and riverscape, which are incorporated into the 32 foot elevation. Local Georgia rocks and plants were chosen based on their compatibility with the traditional style of the Japanese Garden. The water running through the garden from East to West symbolizes Luck and Prosperity. Features of the garden include the Main Gate, bridge, Azumaya (open tea house), bamboo fence in the traditional Japanese carpentry style, Kakeni (well type basin), Karesansui (dry landscape) and of course the rock arrangements.
The Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead has plenty of amenities for just about any occasion you can think of. They have some of the most spacious and well organized meeting areas I have ever seen. With 30,000 square feet of versatile meeting and event space, you are sure to find something for your special event. If you have a business retreat, conference or meeting, this is a great place to book. You know how some meeting halls/rooms are antiseptic and uninviting? Not at the The Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead!
My daughter is getting married within the next year or so and let me tell you, I would be more than thrilled to have her reception at The Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead. The location has a top notch catering service and plenty of room for the most intimate or the larger wedding party to enjoy. Can you imagine the photos of the wedding party in the zen garden? I know right?!
If you are a foodie, the restaurants in The Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead are among the best. At

At Onyx at the Grand, you may spot a celebrity or two and feel like one yourself! Looks like a fun and swanky hotel! We’ve stayed at Hyatt locations before and were always pleased. I love when the hotel rooms have nice large desks in the rooms. Always makes it easier to work while traveling.
I lived in Buckhead for years and had never been to the Grand Hyatt. Thanks for the inside peak. What a classic and relaxing atmosphere. This would have been a perfect staycation!

Those beds look so comfortable and that’s the first thing I look for in a hotel. The Hyatt is truly a beauty and that zen garden adds a serene charm. I lived in Atlanta years ago and still visit whenever I can. There’s so much to do and see.

The Zen Garden is such a nice touch to a hotel stay. If I were staying there for a couple of days, that would be the perfect place to read a book.

Wow – this certainly looks like an exquisite place to stay. I will have to check it out the next time I am in Atlanta.
I think you will never go wrong with a Hyatt hotel. We stayed in midtown when we were in Atlanta, but it doesn’t have a pool. I would love to stay there and enjoy the pool.
I definitely need a zen moment and this place looks like a great getaway! I love all the details of the hotel and I love the sound of that “classic Hollywood with a modern flair”!
Omg this Hyatt really is the place to stay in Atlanta l!! Looks beyond fabulous. Now I know where to stay if I’m in Atlanta:)
I have never been to Altanta, but always curious when I can visit. I did see that I may have a couple of work conferences there so this might be the year I get to go! I’ll look into the Hyatt if it pushes through!
Beautiful hotel! I’ve never been to Atlanta, but I’m planning a trip for the near future … I’ll keep this place in mind! Thank you for sharing!
I’ve been to Buckhead before, for dinner. Our hotel was actually in Atlanta. You’ve given me an idea,…!
We have just moved to GA from Idaho, so this article was very interested since we have yet to really explore the City of Atlanta. Thank you for it!
This sounds so nice. I love all the amenities they have. You deserve it too… it is hard doing all you do each day.
This looks like a great place to stay. I have never been to Atlanta but I would love to visit! Maybe I can put a little idea in my husband’s head! Ha ha
