This is a sponsored post on behalf of U.S. Cellular. They inspired me to share my tips on how to protect your mobile device this summer with you. However, all opinions, as always, are 100% mine. This post may also contain affiliate links. What are your favorite activities during the summer? We love to play at the beach, the pool and our local water park. When we go, I bring either my iPhone or tablet from U.S. Cellular. This allows me to stay on top of work and stay connected to my husband and older daughter.
Summer Activities Can Harm Your Mobile Device
Technology use is at an all-time high. U.S. Cellular wants to help you keep your phone and tablet safe during the summer months. When we bought our mobile devices, we insured them. Have you done this? As pricey as it can be to replace your mobile device, insurance is a safe bet. I would rather pay a $100 deductible than $850 to replace a broken or damaged device.
How To Protect Your Mobile Device This Summer
It is recommend you keep your mobile device between 32 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit. This will help avoid temperature damage. So, don’t keep your phone in a hot car or leave it in direct sunlight for too long. If your device does overheat, the internal components could become damaged. This can cause data loss, a dead battery, and even cause your lithium battery to leak, bubble up, expand or explode. Of course this would ruin the device.
Buy A Water Resistant Case
If you are like me and play at the beach, pool or water park, you need to protect your cellphone. This is where water damage happens. The liquid can get inside your phone’s casing. This will cause corrosion of the internal electrical components. This will cause your phone to short circuit and stop working. You need to buy a separate water-resistant case for your phone. This keeps your phone safe from the water and sand. The cases above can be purchased in a 4-pack from Amazon for just $14.99. See more tips in my post, Tips For Salvaging Your Wet Phone.
Buy A Protective Phone Case
When we bought Caitlin her iPhone, the first thing we did was buy a protective case. She is clumsy like her mother and has broken more than once screen! By purchasing a phone case, even if she drops it, the phone is virtually indestructible. We bought her this cute Otterbox case for her iPhone 7 from Amazon. For less than $40, we felt it was an important investment for her phone.
Remember to contact your wireless carrier if disaster arises. For your peace of mind, remember to ask about their insurance or data back-up plans. Do this when you buy your device. If your phone is not working because it may have water or heat damage, take the phone to your wireless carrier. They have experts who can sometimes fix your device when home remedies did not work. Be sure to stay current with U.S. Cellular and follow them on Facebook and Twitter. One reader will win one $15 iTunes or Google Play Gift Card!
