I have this love/hate relationship with my feet. I have been told I have very pretty feet and have always taken care of them. I have kept the nails trimmed and painted and the dry skin hydrated. I have done this for as long as I can remember…probably since I was a pre-teen.
As I have gotten older, my feet have changed and it freaks me out! They have gotten rougher, drier and less easy to make them look pretty. I have even thought of getting a professional pedicure, but I hate it when people touch my feet. So what is a girl to do? Well, duh! You pamper your feet and give yourself the best home pedicure on the planet! It’s super easy too! Here is what you need to do:
- Grab your supplies! You will need a container large enough to soak your feet, Epsom salts, a pumice stone or foot scrub, nail clippers, a cuticle cutter or orange stick, cuticle oil, a nail file, a towel, a clear base coat and your nail polish.
- Next, you need to remove any old nail polish and then give your feet a nice soak in a warm Epsom salt bath for about 10 minutes. This softens your dry skin and cleans those tootsies!
- After you dry your feet, you need to trim your toe nails. Be sure to cut in a square to avoid those hurtful ingrown nails. File your nails in one direction, not back and forth. This actually causes split nails.
- Next gently push back your cuticles with your orange stick. If you have cuticle trimmers, gently cut away the excess cuticle skin and then rub in a small amount of cuticle oil.
- Place your feet back in the water to remove any excess cuticles and oil. Next you want to work on those dry, rough heels. Using a pumice stone, gently scrub away the calluses and dry skin from your heel and the ball of your foot. You can also use it on that rough patch you can get on the side of your foot, near your pinkie toe.
- Place your feet back in the water to get rid of all that excess dead skin. Gently dry with your town and apply your moisturizer. I use the AmLactin Alpha-Hydroxy Therapy Foot Cream because it gets my feet so silky smooth! If you get any lotion on your nails, just use a bit of nail polish remover to get rid of it. If you don’t, you won’t be able to apply your nail polish properly.
- Now you are ready to polish your nails! Start with a clear coat of nail polish. This keeps your nails from turning yellow and your colored polish will stick better! Allow to dry 5 minutes and then apply your colored polish. Work from the center up and then the sides. If you get any polish on your toes, near the side of the nail, use your orange stick to clean it up. Allow to dry 15-20 minutes. Now you can apply your clear top coat. This really seals in the color and will let your beautiful pedicure last for weeks!
I am absolutely in love with the amazing skin care products from AmLactin, especially the Foot Cream. I have struggled with dryness on my heels and balls of my feet for a long time. Nothing seemed to work at getting those areas truly hydrated. That is, until I tried the AmLactin Foot Cream, which you can purchase from Amazon for a little over $7 for the 3 ounce tube. This was a serious game changer for me. My feet actually feet soft and my husband loves to rub my feet while we watch TV…seriously!!!
As I have gotten older, my skin has changed. It has become drier and less supple. My daughter noticed how dry my arms and legs have gotten over the past several months. Thank goodness for the AmLactin Alpha-Hydroxy Therapy Cerapeutic Restoring Body Lotion for arms and legs. Now my arms and legs look and feel like they did when I was in my 20’s and 30’s!
When I head out to the gym, I keep the smaller tube of the the Ultra Hydrating Body Cream from AmLactin in my little gym bag. I use the AmLactin 12% Moisturizing Lotion when I get out of the shower and my skin feels divine! It actually exfoliates while it moisturizes my skin! Can you tell how much I love these products?! I urge you to head over to their products page and see the entire line of skin care products.
Be sure to stay connected with AmLactin and like them on Facebook , follow them on Twitter and on YouTube as well. You will be so happy that you did!
