Uncover These Suspenseful Crime Dramas On Netflix

This is a sponsored post and I have been compensated. However, all opinions and tips on how you can uncover these suspenseful crime dramas on Netflix are completely mine. For as long as I can remember, my mom was a huge mystery fan. She would read Agatha Christie as often as she could get her hands on a book. She was at the library every week with my sister and I. We would be in the kid’s section and mom would be in the crime, suspense and mystery section.

As I got older, I began to pick up mom’s books. I was hooked! I cannot get enough of James Patterson, Sue Grafton and Patricia Cornwell. If you were to look at my favorites on Netflix, you would see it packed with true crime, mysteries and suspense thrillers. Lately, I have been devouring international dramas (you’ll need to turn on those subtitles!) in the crime genre.

I had pneumonia and bronchitis for over a month, so I needed something to watch, right?! I figured if I was going to be stuck on the sofa, I should have something riveting to keep me entertained! My family made fun of me, but they have no clue (hee hee) what they are missing! I have four favorites I want to recommend. I highly suggest you uncover these suspenseful crime dramas on Netflix!

La Mante (The Mantis): This french drama, is probably my favorite right now. It tells the story of imprisoned serial killer Jeanne Deber. 25 years after she was captured, she is asked by Paris’ police commissioner to help solve a series of unsolved murders. Why? Because they are being committed by someone who is copying her crimes. Jeanne agrees, but only if her estranged son Damien, who is now a detective, will work alongside her.

He reluctantly agrees so that they can try to end the copycat’s crime spree. I loved the acting, the plot and the suspense that builds until the very end! There are 6 episodes and each are about an hour along. You can easily binge this one in a weekend. Or, if you are like me, in an afternoon!

Dark: This is a German thriller some are saying is a dark Stranger Things. Um..nope. Yes, there are kids who go to the same school and ride bikes. There is a secret held underground and several kids go missing. That is where the similarities end. This science fiction thriller is taut, well written and will have you on the edge of your seat and questioning everything and everyone in the story. When kids in the the German town of Winden start disappearing, it brings to light the fractured relationships, double lives, and dark past of four families living there.

A mystery is slowly unraveled to reveal a mystery that spans three generations. This one really needs your full attention. If you miss even a small detail, you may be lost like these poor kids! My heart was pounding and I could not wait for the next of the 10, hour long, episodes to start. Thank goodness for the new “skip intro” feature on my Roku TV! Thank goodness a second season has been picked up.

The Break: (French) La Trêve, “The Truce”: This is another great suspenseful crime drama you will enjoy! it centers around police detective Yoann Peeters, who moves from Brussels with his daughter to his hometown. They want to make a fresh start after a tragedy in their family. On their first morning, the body of a young African football player is pulled from the river.

While the police think it to be a suicide, Peeters soon begins to suspect it is murder. There are a lot of twists and turns and secondary plot lines in this drama. Just when I thought I had the story figured out, I was wrong! I literally did not see the end coming at all! I thoroughly enjoyed each of the 10 episodes and hated to see it come to an end.

Retribution or One of Us: If you are tired of the subtitles, this is a British drama for television that is really well done. The miniseries opens with childhood sweethearts Adam Elliot and Grace Douglas. They marry and have just returned home from their honeymoon, when they are found brutally murdered. Oh, did I mention Gracie was about 8 months pregnant?

Their families and neighbors in the remote Scottish Highland village of Braeston are devastated. Things take an even darker turn when a badly injured man arrives at their doorstep after his car comes off the road. On the way to treating his wounds, one of the family sees a news report. It sees this man may be Gracie and Adam’s killer. What was he doing there? Blackmail? To kill others? This one will keep you guessing and you will be glad it did!
