Fun Things To Do With Your Pets
I was compensated for this post, either with products or monetarily, but all opinions about these great products from PetSmart are completely my own! When I was growing up, my house was filled with the happy barking of our to Irish Setter dogs, Sean and Tuffy.
Currently, we have three cats and one dog. Meep and Hazel, are two loveable sisters we rescued at the age of 5 weeks. Beulah is a rescue we found at a cat sanctuary last Thanksgiving. Elvis is my daughter’s beagle who we are fostering until she gets a larger apartment.
4 Fun Things To Do With Your Pets This Summer
Agility Trials: Have you heard of these? It is an obstacle course for pets which have tunnels, hurdles, balance beams, and climbing structures. You can make them at home and many dog parks are building them as well.
They help with your dog’s agility, get rid of built up energy, and makes exercise fun. You can run along side your pet to encourage them and get yourself some exercise!
Animal Assisted Activities: Many hospitals and nursing homes have programs that allow pets to visit with the patients and residents. It has shown to boost moods and increase socialization. I worked in a hospital while in nursing school that utilized pet therapy.
I wish I could express to you how much joy those pets brought to the patients as well as myself and the other nurses. I mean, who wouldn’t be happy with these two sweet boys snuggling with them?
Chew Time: Every pet needs to chew, no matter their age to keep their jaws strong and teeth clean. The cats absolutely adore their “mousies” and Feline Greenies catnip flavored dental treats from PetSmart. Meep could eat her “greenies” all day if I let her!
And how cute is the pet bowl from PetSmart? I get all of my chew toys and treats for both the cats as well as for Chelsea’s dogs from PetSmart. I rely on their quality as well as their affordability.
Floor Time: I love to get on the floor and wrestle with Ringo and Elvis or get a kitty toy and play with Meep and Hazel. This is a great time for you and your pet to bond. It is also a great way for your pet to work on their motor and cognitive skills.

I have a beautiful and very handsome brown tabby named, Larry. He loves, loves to play with a wand. It’s got a small stick attached to a string. Hanging off the string are three funny-looking fuzzy balls. He takes it with him everywhere, and when he wants to play, he meows while it’s in his mouth. That is the strangest meow I ever heard! Sounds like he’s in pain~but he just wants to play. Of course, he’ll play for about one minutes, and that’s that. Jees! Anyway, in the summer months, he likes to sit “outside” in my screened in room. It’s really just a summer room, but he loves looking at the birds and, sometimes, bunnies! There’s also a very big ground hog, whom I adore, but we rarely see him.
I just know I love my Larry and would cry waterfalls if I ever lost him to the rainbow bridge… Thanks!

We are active in Obedience and agility, but don’t do as much in the summer. It’s just too hot here in the desert. We do enjoys visiting friends and their dogs for swimming get togethers. The dogs have a blast with their doggy friends.

July 10, 2015 at 9:00 pmMy brown tabby, Larry, is my best friend. He has one toy in particular that he MUST have near him at all times. It’s a wand toy with fuzzy balls on the end of a short string. Sometimes he carries the fuzzy balls in him mouth and makes the most blood-curdling sound (cause his mouth is full) I’ve ever heard. Then, I know for sure, he MUST have me play with him. Sometimes he plays for a long while, BUT, sometimes he just stares at me and then the toy as I wave it about. He won’t play w/it at all at those times. Ohhhh, I get so mad. But, I can’t be mad at this little fur boy, that’s when I give him big, fat kisses. I love him so much. Thanks.

July 11, 2015 at 6:53 pmIn the Summer, I love to watch my Sweet Brown Tabby, LARRY, lie in the sun, just soaking up the warm rays!!! I have a small, enclosed screen porch, and Larry can watch all the birds, squirrels, groundhog, and even a bunny rabbit all he wants. Well, mostly, my little love, Larry, likes to sleep. Since the screened porch is really only good for the Summer (sometimes warm Fall and Spring days, too), well, LARRY gets to hang out and be happy. His happiness is my GOAL!
In the Summer, we play different games, because I don’t want him to get overheated. I know I sound like LARRY is a spoiled boy, and, I guess he is a bit. But, he brings me such JOY and LOVE….he deserves some spoiling.
LARRY is a dear kitty who likes to grab my hand and hold it. I just melt and feel so good. Thanks!

I have one that I adopted as a senior that was having a hard time finding a new forever home…and then my sons family moved back home with 2 lab mixes that they adopted that needed to be homed together due to anxiety issues. 🙂 So…we have one big happy family! We love to take them in the back yard and throw tennis balls! Their favorite!

I’ve commented a few times about my best “man,” LARRY, the most handsome brown tabby in all the land….
I’ve mentioned what we like to do in the summer. BUT, best of all, I love to wake up on a weekend and see his big, beautiful eyes looking intently at me. I like to think it’s pure love….blah, blah, blah….BUT, it’s just my LARRY saying, “Wake up you, lunatic!!!! It’s time to EAT!!” That’s cool though, because he’s my best big boy!

Ahem…..well, I mean, in the summer he sheds a lot. LARRY insists he needs to keep up his appearance in case a talent scout should spot him…….(of course, sometimes I go overboard about Larry….like right now)….but he is one terrific, talented TABBY, whom I just LOVE to pieces.
