It was always perfect. Because most of our tree ornaments were handed down from many generations, my sister and I were not allowed to help decorate the tree. Mom wasn’t being mean. When I had my first child, I began to collect ornaments for my own family. When she was old enough, she helped choose one ornament for herself each Christmas.
