Am I the only mom on the block who is slightly freaking out about school starting? I am so not ready for this you guys! I think I feel doubly pressured because I have one in high school who is super active in her extra curricular activities and I home school a middle school child. That means I not only have to get school supplies and school clothes, but I also have to get organized as well. I need to finish purging the kids rooms and get them organized before I can start my shopping. Please tell me you are on the same page, even on the smallest level?! Here are a few great tips and ideas I used to get the kids rooms cleaned and organized:
Hacks For Organizing Kids Rooms
Instruction Manuals: I have a boy who loves building those complicated Lego sets. If I leave them laying around, we usually lose them or they get eaten by the cats. Instead, get a 3 ring binder and page protectors and you have them safe and organized.
Hanging Storage Cubes: We have a small house, so we are short on storage space. I had to get creative and hang a lot of storage cubes in the kids rooms. For Henry, I have all of his video games and DVD’s right at his fingertips. I have labeled them with my Epson Safety Kit, and Henry has no trouble putting them in their rightful place.
Playing Cards: We play a lot of cards, but after a few games, we start losing them. Pick up a handful of plastic soap containers from the Dollar Store and keep your cards snug and safe in those! >Hanging Shoe Organizers: These are great for organizing kids rooms! You can store small cars, hand held gaming systems, small plush animals (mine collected My Little Pony), action figures, and much more. Oh, and I guess you can store shoes in them too!
DIY Storage Containers: Instead of tossing those coffee or chip containers, upcycle them into cute storage for the kids. I made these cute Monster Storage Containers with coffee Pringle’s cans, scrapbook paper and glue. I made 4 of them in about 20 minutes and they cost about $3. And they make organizing kids rooms a lot more fun!
Plastic File Bins: I have a bin for each kid with hanging files. I keep their report cards, artwork, class schedules and other important papers. You can store about 5 years worth of paperwork per bin per child.
