Easy Fried Chicken Recipe
I am an Amazon affiliate and I earn a small commission on each purchase. In the south, we have a few things that sets us apart from the rest of the country. We say “y’all” and “bless your heart” all the time.
Many times, we use them in the same sentence! We also eat a lot of fried chicken and drink a lot of sweet tea! Sometimes we spike our tea, like in my Brown Sugar Bourbon Sweet Iced Tea recipe!
When I was little, I would watch my mom make her Easy Fried Chicken Recipe. She always used a cast iron skillet because she said it cooked the chicken more evenly and was crispier. All I know is that is was delicious!
I know time can be short when you are a busy mom. But at the end of the day, I want my family to have a hot meal whenever possible. And with this Easy Fried Chicken Recipe, you can feed your family a hot meal, even when time is short! Watch how easy it is to make!
You can make my Easy Fried Chicken Recipe. It is an easy dinner recipe for families. Even for those busy days when you think you do not have time to cook.
Here is what you need to make your Easy Fried Chicken Recipe:
- 2 pounds of chicken. I prefer chicken tenderloins, but you can cut a breast into strips if you prefer. They cook faster than a whole breast.
- 2 eggs
- 3 cups of buttermilk
- 4 cups of flour
- Your favorite spices. Seriously. Have fun and get creative. I use garlic salt, season all, salt and pepper. Sometimes I add some taco seasoning, Sriracha or red pepper flakes. This adds some heat to your 30-Minute Buttermilk Fried Chicken Recipe.
- Gallon size Ziploc bag
- 5-6 cups of oil. We use sunflower, but you can use whatever you like.
Step One: Gather your favorite spices. I typically use Garlic Salt, Season All, salt and pepper. For a little heat, I will add come red pepper flakes or Sriracha.
Step Two: Add your flour in your Ziploc bag. Add your spices. Close the seal on the bag and shake well to mix.
Step Three: In a shallow bowl, add your buttermilk and eggs. Whisk together until well combined.
Step Four: Dip your chicken into the liquid. Add to the flour mixture. Repeat. This makes your chicken extra crispy!
Step Five: Add your oil to the cast iron skillet. You want to fill it about 2/3 full. This keeps the oil from spilling out when the chicken is cooking. If you don’t have cast iron, that is OK! Use any skillet you have. Cook chicken 3-5 minutes on both sides, or until browned.
Step Six: Take your thoroughly cooked chicken from the pan and place on paper towels. Allow towels to absorb extra oil. Place your delicious super easy 30-Minute Buttermilk Fried Chicken Recipe in a bowl, basket or plate and serve with your favorite dipping sauces.
