DIY Decoupage Coffee Container Utensil Holder
This post contains affiliate links and/or images. I am a mom who feels a bit overwhelmed a good amount of the time. Can you relate? Please tell me you do! I love being a stay/work at home mom, don’t get me wrong. It can be a lot to juggle when you are running a household. You wear a lot of hats, right? Chef, janitorial engineer, nurse, teacher, financial analyst and recreational activities director. You get the picture. If I don’t carve out some “me” time, I may go a bit crazy!
I have two times a day I set aside for myself. When I get up, before the house begins to stir and later in the afternoon. In the morning, I love to sit on the deck and enjoy a cup of coffee, some fruit or yogurt and write in my gratitude journal. In the afternoon, before it is time to make dinner, I like to relax by doing a crafty project. This week, I am working on a super cute DIY Decoupage Coffee Container Utensil Holder!
My brand of coffee I have enjoyed for years is Folgers. It is the coffee my mom drank. It is the first coffee I ever tried. I will admit, I have tried other brands in the past. But, I always come back to my old standby! I have not found another brand that has the rich aroma and flavor I get from Folgers. And I have discovered their latest line at my local Walmart in the coffee aisle. Their NEW Folgers Simply Gourmet coffee line has four delicious flavors. You can choose from Caramel, Chocolate, Cinnamon and Vanilla.
I love to mix it up and have a different one each day. Or, I will combine two flavors, like the Chocolate and Cinnamon. So good! It is so relaxing to sit outside while I listen to the birds chirping. And then sip on one of the delicious Folgers Simply Gourmet coffees. When I drink my Folgers Classic Roast Coffee, I add a bit of sweetener and creamer. With the NEW Folgers Simply Gourmet coffees, I don’t need to add a thing! I want those natural flavors to shine through!
When I am setting up my supplies to make a craft, I like to include a small cup of coffee. It goes hand in hand with my “me” time! I have found I enjoy a cup of the NEW Folgers Simply Gourmet Natural Vanilla flavor. It satisfies my sweet tooth I tend to get around that afternoon “slump!”

My daughter suggested we make a new utensil holder from one of my empty Folgers containers. We have needed one for a while, and making one myself appealed to me.
What you will need to make your DIY Decoupage Coffee Container Utensil Holder:
- 1 Empty and clean Folgers Coffee container
- 1 Can of spray paint
- Spray Clear Coat (optional but recommended)
- 1 Fat Quarter with a large floral pattern
- Matching ribbon
- Mod Podge
- Paint Brush (for Mod Podge application)
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Step One: Spray paint your Folgers Coffee container. This may take two coats, depending on the color you have chosen. Allow to dry completely.
Step Two: Cut out a large floral pattern that will fit onto the front of your painted Folgers Coffee container.
Step Three: Mod Podge fabric cut-out onto Folgers Coffee container.
Step Four: Glue ribbon around top and bottom of your Folgers Coffee container.
Step Five: Fill your beautiful DIY Decoupage Coffee Container Utensil Holder with your utensils and show it off!

I need to give this a look. There are so many conflicting opinions out there about weight loss, the scientific one is the best.
What a cute and creative container. I would like to try the cinnamon and the caramel coffee.
I absolutely love this, really easy way to spruce up the kitchen too. I will have to try my hand at this DIY decoupage coffee container utensil holder. Loving the colors you selected!
That turned out so lovely. I don’t drink coffee.
Your utensil container is adorable! My mom loves Folgers coffee. Her birthday is coming up soon and I’ll be sure to pick her up a few bags of of that Natural Vanilla. She’ll be thrilled!
What an awesome craft and idea. I had never heard of decoupage before but it looks fun and the end result is ace.
Great job! I always wondered what to do with my coffee containers besides put leftover oil in! This looks easier than using contact paper too!
This is a fun way to add some color to your kitchen. Looks easy too thanks for the DIY!
That was a really cute up-cycle project. It would also be nice to be used as a pen and pencil holder. It is an easy to follow craft so I know I can pull this one off successfully.
That is a gorgeous container! Who says you need to pay high store prices to get cute decor!
I’ve never been super crafty but you made this look easy! I need to do a red one to match my kitchen.
That is beautiful! I would have never guessed it was a coffee can!
I love that DIY craft. I could make two or three of them and use them to hold disposable utensils, even make up brushes perhaps. Thank you for sharing the steps on how to make them!
What a great idea! It came out beautiful!
The natural vanilla sounds like a winner to me! That flower looks just lovely.
This came out so cute! You’d never know it started out as a coffee container.
Love Modge Podge!!!This is so cute! I have the perfect container to try that with! Thanks for the idea.
I love how creative this is! The colors are amazing. I had no idea Folger’s has new coffee…I’ll check it out this weekend.
I wish I had seen this before I spent over $20 for a decorative utensil holder. And the one I bought isn’t even as good a match for my decor as I wanted.
Reading how you describe using the different flavors of coffee together made me want a cup myself! I love the whole reduce/reuse/recycle theme of this craft.
You did a great job on the container. I have several Folgers containers and did not know what to do with them. I will try this to organize my kitchen utensils.
I absolutely adore the pattern that you found for this. The colour as well. These flavors of coffee sound really good too.
I like “me time,” too, I often get up really early, and do a few things whatever I feel like that doesn’t make much noise. It always feels like a guilty pleasure, that I”m getting more out of life while everyone is sleeping away! I love this, I would never have thought it was from a coffee can!
I have saved several of those coffee canisters. I am making a set of storage canisters. They will be so nice with your instructions.
Pretty!
