This Easy Minions Flower Pot Craft Is A Great Teacher Gift

December 27, 2019 by Kelly 91 Comments

Do you love an easy and inexpensive craft the kids can help you with? I am always on the hunt for a cute project the kids and I can make in a short time. I don’t know about your kids, but mine have an attention span of a gnat! I have to keep them busy and I have about an hour before they lost interest. This adorable Easy Minions Flower Pot Craft fits those needs perfectly!

This Easy Minions Flower Pot Craft is and easy and affordable craft for the kids to make. It would make a great teacher gift filled with school supplies!

My kids have loved the Minion gang since the first time they saw them. They could watch the Despicable Me movies over and over! I must admit, I could too! Each time we watch one, we uncover another joke or gag that cracks us up! After we planted our herb garden, we had a few Terracotta pots left over. We decided to make a cute Easy Minions Flower Pot Craft. Isn’t it adorable? And if you need a cute idea for a back to school craft, try this Teacher Appreciation Crayon Vase Craft.

The slideshow illustrates how easy this Easy Minions Flower Pot Craft is to make. It will cost about $10 and take about an hour to complete. Perfect for a rainy afternoon!

DIY Minion Flower Planter supplies

What you will need to make your Easy Minions Flower Pot Craft:

  • One medium sized terracotta flower pot and saucer
  • 1 mason jar ring
  • 1 bottle of Minion yellow paint
  • 1 bottle of Minion blue paint
  • 1 bottle each of white, black and brown paint. You can also use a black and brown marker.
  • 1 medium paintbrush for painting the flower pot and saucer
  • 1 small paintbrush for painting the eye
  • Pencil
  • ΒΌ β€œ black grosgrain ribbon
  • Tacky glue or a hot glue gun and glue sticks

DIY Minion Flower Planter step one

Step One: Paint your flower pot with the yellow paint. You may need to do 2-3 coats. Allow to dry completely in between coats.

DIY Minion Flower Planter step two

Step Two: Paint your saucer with the blue paint. You may need to do 2-3 coats. Allow to dry completely in between coats.

DIY Minion Flower Planter step three

Step Three: Place your mason jar ring with the top against the flower pot. This is where the eye will be. Use a pencil to mark the circle of the eye, using the ring as a guide. Paint the eye circle white. Do at least 2 coats. Allow to dry completely in between coats. This is super important. If you don’t, the brown and black will run into the white.

DIY Minion Flower Planter step four

Step Four: Using a pencil, make a circle, about the size of a half dollar, in the middle of the white part of the eye. This will be painted brown. You can also use a brown marker instead of paint. Repeat step five, but inside the brown circle. This will be painted black. You can also use a black marker instead of the paint.

DIY Minion Flower Planter step five

Step Five: Glue the black ribbon around the bottom of the top part of the flower pot. The ends will be glued just inside where the mason jar ring will go.

DIY Minion Flower Planter step six

Step Six: Glue the mason jar ring onto the flower pot.

DIY Minion Flower Planter roses

Now you are ready to fill your DIY Minions Flower Pot Craft with a beautiful plant, school supplies or any other fun filling you can think of!

I used to love doing crafts with my little kids but they’ve grown up to the point of not doing much with “Mom” but we do still paint rooms together when it’s time to change room colours – we do that every 2 years. We used to make plaster of paris crafty things and paint them – I loved doing that… plaster eggs, hand prints, walkway stones…

I love doing DIY crafts with my little niece and nephew. Each has their favorites on what they like to do. With my nephew he loves to make (and do) anything relating to cars. With my niece, she loves to make jewelry and make doll clothes.

We made one for my sister who loves Minions. She loved the pot. We put an artificial plant in it… she kills plants.
