My childhood is filled with fun memories of my mom playing with my sister and I. We would explore caves and hike with our scout troop. Mom was always on the go! When she started to have knee pain about 10 years ago, we were worried. We saw a decrease in her activity level and her moods went from joyful to dark.
When her doctor spoke with us about her having a knee replacement, we were hopeful and a bit anxious. We didn’t know anything about this type of surgery. As it turned out, everything about her joint replacement experience was a positive one. Her surgery went extremely well and her recovery was better than expected. But the best part was seeing mom get that spring back in her step! Before we knew it, she was playing with my kids on the playground like she did with my sister and I when we were little.
So…now I am having hip pain! I have been having it for a few years now, but it isn’t getting better. I am not able to walk as far, go to the gym for as long and do other activities I enjoy, like the yearly Mother’s Day Mud Run. I cannot believe I had to miss out on that this year! Even bending down can be painful sometimes. Now I am considering joint replacement. I am thankful to know what to expect, so there is no fear or doubt about making this choice.
But when you are dealing with joint pain, doesn’t it feel as if your life has been put on pause? If you feel stuck in life due to joint pain, I have great news! You can take action and Hit Play! With this helpful website, you will find so much information! You can find a doctor in your area that can speak to you about your hip and knee pain. They can discuss what options would be best for you, including joint replacement surgery.
As I watched the videos and read the stories on the Hit Play website, it reminded me of my mom. You don’t realize how your joint pain can effect everyone around you. I loved hearing Rebekah’s story and how she was able to get back to her cycling after her hip replacement surgeries. I urge you to Take a step to find out if joint replacement surgery is an option to get you back to doing the things you love. Because life is a lot more fun when you Hit Play.
Do you or someone you know suffer from hip or knee pain? Have you considered joint replacement or have you had it done? I would love to hear your story!
Hip & knee pain is a bitch! I have had both of my hips joints replaced, one for easy no problems. The other one I ended up with a damaged nerve. So from the knee down my leg and foot is numb and I had to relearn to walk.
I don’t miss the pain I had.
You are braver than I am. I would wait until I could walk before I would have surgery. I have so many meds and doctors in my life now… I am not inviting any more unless I have to.
I’ve had friends who have had either hip or knee replacements. They were all glad they had the surgery.
A friend is getting a new knee next week. Another friend had her hip replaced a month ago and is doing fine.
This post is going to help many of us who have knee or hip pain and are living limited lives because of it. I’ve had knee pain for years now and haven’t considered doing something about it until now. Thanks for the advice.
