Shower Melts Are Amazing

Caitlin recently had what we thought was a run-of-the-mill cold. We took her to the doctor and it turns out she had a nasty upper respiratory infection.

Along with the antibiotics her doctor prescribed, we had her use one of the shower melts in the shower. She said they made a huge difference in her breathing!

Essential Oils Breathe Easier Shower Melts Recipe Supplies:

• 1 cup baking soda
• 1/2 cup Epsom salts (I use the eucalyptus scent on Amazon)
• 1/2 cup cornstarch
• 2-3 tablespoons melted coconut oil
• 10-20 drops of lime essential oils (I get mine from Amazon)
• 10-20 drops of eucalyptus essential oils (I get mine from Amazon)
• 10-20 drops of thyme essential oils (I get mine from Amazon)
• Blue and white mica coloring (I get mine on Amazon)
• Small silicone mold of your choice (I used these from Amazon)
• Spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol
• 1 large mixing bowl
• 1 small bowl

Steps 1-3: In a large mixing bowl, add the baking soda, Epsom salts, and cornstarch.

Steps 4-6: Add essential oils. These three oils are wonderful for opening your nasal passages!

Steps 7-9: Add coconut oil. This binds all the ingredients together, so the shower melts don’t crumble! Mix ingredients together. Separate the mixture into your two bowls.

Steps 10-12: Add blue mica coloring to one bowl and the white to the other and mix well. I use my hands to break down any lumps and make sure everything is really mixed in there.

The mixture is perfect when it holds together when you press it into your hands and feels like wet sand. By using coconut oil and no water, the mixture will stay moist longer.

Step 13: Fill each cavity of your mold with the mixture and press down firmly. We made our shower melts in two different molds and did the melts with half of each color.

Steps 14-15: Allow melts to dry for at least 24 hours. When completely dry, turn the mold over on a plate or cutting board and gently remove the melts from the molds.
