How do you feel about the cooler weather now that November has arrived? Fall into winter is my favorite time of the year? This morning I was admiring the gorgeous colors of the leaves. I am awed by nature! The only thing I am not crazy about when this season rolls around is the germ season is upon us. Wait!! Did you hear that? Are your kids are starting to get the sniffles?! What is a mom to do?
It is my job to keep my family as protected from seasonal illnesses. The first thing I do is take stock of what I have on hand. I check expiration dates and amounts remaining from last season. When I looked at my medicine cabinet, I realized two things. First, it was a mess and needed some TLC. Second, was that I am lacking on those products that keep my family feeling well. And if they get sick, I want to make sure I have the right OTC medications to get them on the mend ASAP. I need to keep my medicine cabinet #HappilyStocked!
For me, I stock up on all of my favorite products to kick those germs in the butt. I head to Kroger and fill my basket up! I love shopping with them! If I have a question, the pharmacy staff is there to help. The products are easy to find and affordable. The items we use most in our home are the *Breathe Right Strips in Extra Tan, **Dial Complete Fresh Pear Anti-Bacterial Foaming Hand Wash, ***Halls Honey Lemon Flavor Menthol Drops in the 30 ct. Bag, ****Kleenex® Anti-Viral, *****Theraflu ExpressMax Severe Cold & Flu Caplets and ******TYLENOL® Cold + Flu Severe Caplets.
I have peace of mine when I have these brands in my bathroom medicine cabinet. I am prepared when my family gets those seasonal sniffles that might arise. Now that Caitlin is in college, she doesn’t have as as many sick days as she did in high school. And goodness knows I cannot get sick, right?! If mom is sick, the house stops running smoothly. My kids and husband would be lost! Let me tell you about my favorite products for our wellness needs from Kroger. And of course, before purchasing any OTC products, check with your doctor. Be sure to take advantage of great savings during the month of November on these great products at Kroger!
When I was in nursing school, we learned early on about hand hygiene. This is the first course of action to fight those pesky germs. In my house, we say, “Wash you hands and wash them often!” I love the Dial Complete Fresh Pear Anti-Bacterial Foaming Hand Wash. Dial is one of our favorite soap brands! I trust them because their soaps kills 99.9% germs. Our hands are clean, hydrated and soft. The antibacterial gives us “Healthier Skin. Healthier You.®”
Next to hand washing, a good night’s sleep is a cornerstone of wellness. If you don’t get enough sleep, you are functioning below your optimal level. That is when those sneaky germs can get into your body and may you feel like crud. If my husband is stuffed up, he snores. Like a freight train. If he didn’t use the Breathe Right Strips, I would need to send him to the sofa!
They are amazing! The strips reduce snoring caused by nighttime nasal congestion. They also provide drug-free relief for congestion due to colds, allergies or a deviated septum. When placed on the nose properly, they gently lift the sides of the nose. This opens the nasal passages, providing immediate and continual relief. Helps increase airflow so you can breathe better. And when you can breathe better, you can sleep better.
If we do get the sniffles or other symptoms from seasonal illness, I have the trifecta of products I rely on. My family uses Halls Honey Lemon Flavor Menthol Drops in the 30 ct. Bag, TYLENOL® Cold + Flu Severe Caplets and Theraflu ExpressMax Severe Cold & Flu Caplets (for use in children 12 years of age or older.) If we have a scratchy and/or sore throat, Halls soothes it. And my family loves the Honey Lemon flavor!
The TYLENOL® Cold + Flu Severe Caplets is from my favorite #1 doctor recommended pain relief brand. With the TYLENOL® Cold + Flu Severe Caplets, I get all in one Cold and Flu symptom relief. It really stops congestion & sore throat. If you want powerful relief without a prescription, the Theraflu ExpressMax Severe Cold & Flu Caplets are super! Those caplets give you the power to feel better! They treat the symptoms of sore throat, nasal congestion, chest congestion, fever, headache, and body aches. Just be sure to check the ingredients in your medicine. Only use 1 products that contains acetaminophen at a time.
When I have the sniffles, my nose can get red and sore. It can hurt to wipe it. With Kleenex® Anti-viral, 99.9% of cold and flu viruses in the tissue are killed. They are so soft! They make wiping my nose something I don’t have to avoid. And because I only need to use one Kleenex® tissue, I get a great value as well. No wonder this is the #1 consumer preferred brand! What you will need for your Easy $15 DIY Medicine Cabinet Makeover:
Contact Paper
Paint
Painters Tape
Storage Baskets
Small Storage Containers
Something to clean cabinet with
Step One: Take everything out of the cabinet. If you have shelves that are removable, take these out as well. Clean interior of cabinet and shelves, if applicable.
Step Two: Tape outside edges of cabinet. Since we used spray paint, we taped a few trash bags around the walls and sink to avoid splattering.
Step Three: Paint interior of cabinet. If you have shelves, don’t forget to paint the support pieces!
Step Four: Measure, cut and apply contact paper to shelves. Cut an additional piece for the bottom of the cabinet. Allow cabinet to dry completely before applying.
Step Five: Once paint is completely dry, insert shelves.
Step Six: Arrange your products in the cabinet. Use your smaller containers for band aids, flossers, q-tips, etc. Add all your germ fighting and feel better products, including your Breathe Right strips, Extra Clear Dial Complete, Halls Honey Lemon, Kleenex® Anti-Viral, Theraflu ExpressMax Caplets and TYLENOL® Cold + Flu Severe Caplets. Can you believe the difference in the before and after? Crazy how a little paint, colorful contact paper and storage containers can make a world of difference!

My bathroom drawers and cabinets could all use with a cleanout. Lots of expired things, things we don’t use or need anymore, empty medicine bottles.
My medicine cabinet could use a do over, this came out so nice, and you are so ready for winter! This gives me incentive to get on it!
I don’t even have a medicine cabinet, but I have been wanting to install one for years. LOVE your makeover idea.
I stock up on lots of antibacterial everything! I also make sure I have plenty of vitamin C on hand!
I really like this season as well. It’s always good to be prepared especially if you have kids. I love how organized your medicine cabinet is!!!
I am embarrassed to even mention how messy my medicine cabinet is!! It’s a pig sty! Love this idea – affordable and a great way to clean it up
That is a great DIY makeover and the products that go in it are even better. I did my bathrooms a few years back but it is getting neartime for a redo.
Your medicine cabinet looks abslutely amazing after the makeover. I use those little plastic trays to keep things organized too!
I should really make my medicine cabinet look a bit better! It can get so messy.

I like the colors you chose for the makeover! You definitely have the right supplies for cold and flu season!
It’s the time of year when I start to stock up on stuff for my medicine cabinet and bathroom. Especially soap and tissues. You can never have too many tissues.
You are on the ball! I like to wait and buy my supplies when it’s too late for them to help us. Lol. I do love your medicine cabinet makeover.
Love how that turned out We tossed our medicine cabinets when we redid our bathroom. However, we keep all of these cold products on hand during this time of the year.
I need to do this. I’m guilty of the medicine cabinet filled with expired products and old prescriptions. This is motivating.
My medicine cabinet isn’t too bad, but I am running low on supplies. Thanks for giving me all the things I need to re-stock on. 🙂
This came out really cute. I need to go through and organize my medicine cabinet. it is a mess right now lol I also need to grab some o those breathe right strips for my snoring husband
Great project! I use those little bins a lot. Not only in my bathroom but many places throughout my house.
I need to go to Kroger to stock up on all my winter essentials. I will have to try this medicine cabinet makeover this weekend.

We revamp our medicine cabinet every fall and spring. We haven’t done it yet, so I need to get on it. Thanks for the tips and the reminder!
I need to do something like this. My medicine cupboard is highly unsual and I wont even open it most days. This is such a great, and easy idea to give it a little make over!
Love this post. Do it yourself projects are always fun for my husband and I. Right now we do need to redo our medicine cabinet, so this is very helpful.

This reminds me that I need to go clean out our medicine cabinet! Among the other million things on my to do list!
Having a designated medicine cabinet is such a smart idea. It helps you stay organized and know whether or not you need to restock your cold& flu meds.
I agree, it’s so much cuter after. It’s so smart to stock up seasonally. I’m usually running to the store once someone is already sick.
This is a great idea if you have little kids and you know there will be lots of sick days. You don’t want to have to go searching for what you need when you have to play Dr. Mom.
Well timed post. I’m just getting over a cold. A cold I wasn’t prepared for. I had no cold medicine and my husband had to go out and try to figure out what to buy to help me. Now that I’m feeling better I’m going to follow this advice and stock up my bathroom cabinets. Good and timely post since cold season is coming soon. Just wish I had seen it before my cold.
It is great that Kroger is a pharmacy that you can trust and enables you to buy the medicine that you need to keep you and your kids health on the up. Great cabinet makeover!
We do similar things like you, putting all the meds into a basket. I think that is a neat idea.
This is cost effective as well very useful. I would love to create this super cool DIY for my medicine cabinet, too 🙂
My medicine cabinet is such a mess. This a great idea to make it neat, organized, and functional. I love that it won’t cost me a bunch of money and I could tackle this in a short amount of time!
This is such a great transformation! It’s actually reminded me that I really should sort my medicine cupboard out. These all sound like great products for when the family starts getting poorly.
This is a great idea! I need to organize my medicine cabinet. It has already started snowing here and I need to stock up on some products.
Well I went through my medicine cabinets and made my list of what I need to stock up. But you inspired me to check out other cabinets for mess. I have several that need cleaning out. I’m finding I have too much of some things and none of others. Why do I keep buying some things again and again?
I feel like I’m an odd man out, I’ve always kept the medicine in the kitchen, not the bathroom. It’s definitely the right time to stock up on all the medicines its when I get sick the most.
Those small baskets are so good for organizing little things. Makes it easy to just take it out and get what you want.
This is just awesome! I love being able to make over an area that was always annoying! this looks so great!
I’m a huge fan of Dial products, and would love to try out the Dial Complete Fresh Pear Anti-Bacterial Foaming Hand Wash. Pear is a scent that I really like in bathroom and hygiene products.

Wow brilliant idea. I love crafting and also love seeing diy post. Thanks for sharing. The outcome looks soooo cool!
This is so awesome. One time I had a Dollar Store and Craigslist field day and redid my entire kitchen for like $15 lol. So much fun
I love this time of year, but I did not fill the medicine cabinet in time. Running behind this year, so spent a lot of sleepless nights because of it.
I love your new medicine cabinet! What a great idea and easy way to upgrade your space. I have all these products in my home too. The Dial soap is my very favorite and it’s such a great price for yummy smelling foam soap!
Wow, this is a great way to spruce up the medicine cabinet. We recently purchased a new one and the bathroom really looks updated now. Dial soap is a constant in our bathroom as well.
I just love how the medicine cabinet came out using these baskets. I had just painted mine the same way you did and it turned out great. I like the way the baskets look and how they function it keeps everything in order which is now what i need to work on.
I definitely need to clean out and reorganize my medicine cabinet I love what you did with yours, especially the new color!
I live in an apt with two medicine cabinets but use my hall closet to store medicines as someone is always in the bathroom when you need something NOW.
I can tell it’s time to clean out my medicine cabinet. I try to do it at least once a year to remove all expired/old stuff.
I’m taking notes on this post. I have two bathrooms and I’m going to make sure that both medicine cabinets are full of all of the things I’ll need for cold and flu season. Not to mention every day mishaps.
This should be easy enough for me to do. I can use a makeover in the bathroom. Thank you for the medicine tips too.
I love the color you painted the cabinet and the wallpaper you used for the shelves. What a difference. I’m inspired.
What a cute and easy make over. That is the color I have my bathroom. I love it.
I like being orderly and prepared, so I have a list (which includes many of the things you listed) that I replace on a seasonal, as needed or yearly basis. Love the idea of painting the inside of the cabinet, it really does make it cheery.
